|
Better Access to Mental Health Care allows GPs to refer patients to an allied mental health professional including; Psychiatrists, Level 2 Mental Health registered GPs, Clinical Psychologists, Psychologists, Social Workers and Occupational Therapists.
GPs must complete a mental health assessment and plan with a patient prior to referring them on to an allied mental health professional. After 6 sessions of focussed psychological strategies the patient should return to the GP for a review consultation between 4 weeks to 6 months after the completion of the GP Mental Health Care Plan.
